On 18 December 2025, the inaugural meeting of the Working Group (Pokja) for the Implementation of the Criminal Code (KUHP) and the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) was convened in Jakarta. The meeting was attended by the Vice Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia for Non-Judicial Affairs, Dr. Dwiarso Budi Santiarto, S.H., M.Hum.; the Chief Justice of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court, Dr. Prim Haryadi, S.H., M.H.; Justices of the Supreme Court and Ad Hoc Corruption Court Judges of the Criminal Chamber; the Director General of the General Courts of the Supreme Court, Bambang Myanto, S.H., M.H.; as well as legal practitioners and researchers from IJRS (Matheus, Aditya, and Salisa), LeIP, and AIPJ3.
This meeting marked the initial step in strategic coordination to prepare for the comprehensive and measured implementation of the national criminal law framework, which is scheduled to come into force on 2 January 2026. The discussions focused on setting the Working Group’s strategic direction, mapping key issues, and strengthening cross-unit synergies to ensure the readiness of judicial institutions in implementing the KUHP and KUHAP effectively, fairly, and in accordance with the principles of the rule of law.
