Dr. Fachrizal Afandi, S.Psi., S.H., M.H is a legal academician who studies criminal law, criminal justice system and socio-legal studies at Universitas Brawijaya. He earned his doctoral degree at Leiden University. He is trusted to be the Chairperson of the Indonesian Socio-Legal Studies Association (ASSLESI) for the 2021-2024 period. He is also active as a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Criminal Justice Reform (ICJR) in conducting policy studies related to criminal law and the criminal justice system in Indonesia.

At Brawijaya University, he is trusted to be the Head of the Legal Documentation and Information Center of the Faculty of Law, Brawijaya University, and Secretary of the Improvement of International Publications of Scientific Works of Brawijaya University Lecturers.
