Basic Training on Field Survey Enumerator Work

On Tuesday, 19 May 2026, Gladys Nadya Arianto, a researcher at IJRS, had the opportunity to participate in the Basic Training on Field Survey Enumerator Work organized by the SMERU Learning Centre.

The training covered various important aspects of conducting field surveys, including the roles and responsibilities of enumerators, data collection ethics, communication techniques with respondents, as well as strategies for addressing field dynamics and challenges.

In addition to learning theoretical concepts, participants were also engaged in interactive discussions, experience-sharing sessions, and practical exercises aimed at understanding the technical aspects necessary to ensure that data collection processes are conducted accurately, ethically, and with high quality.

For IJRS, strengthening this capacity is an essential part of its evidence-based research work. As an organization focused on research, policy advocacy, and strengthening the justice sector, the quality of field data serves as a key foundation for producing analyses that are accurate, relevant, and accountable.

Through this training, participants not only gained technical knowledge regarding the work of enumerators, but also strengthened their awareness of the importance of maintaining quality, ethics, and sensitivity throughout the data collection process. This aligns with IJRS’s role in promoting the formulation of legal and judicial policies that are more responsive to the needs of society.

The training provided valuable practical insights, technical guidance, and lessons learned that will support the implementation of future IJRS research, particularly in ensuring that field survey processes are carried out accurately, ethically, and to a high standard of quality.
