On 14–17 April 2026, the Indonesia Judicial Research Society (IJRS) participated in The 7th World Congress on Probation and Parole (WCPP) in Bali, held under the theme “Getting Smart on Justice: Healing Hearts and Safer Societies.” WCPP serves as a platform for academics, practitioners, researchers, and other stakeholders from around the world to exchange ideas and experiences on correctional issues.
During the event, IJRS Researcher Saffah Salisa Azzahro served as a moderator in two parallel discussion sessions: the third session on Professionalization of Probation Officers and the fourth session on Technology and Artificial Intelligence to Support Probation Services. In addition, IJRS Researchers Aditya Weriansyah and Adi Nugroho also had the opportunity to participate in The 7th WCPP.
IJRS’s involvement in this event reflects its commitment not only to addressing prison overcrowding, but also to promoting stronger reintegration pathways for inmates.
IJRS also had the opportunity to share its research findings by hosting a booth at the event. IJRS highlighted three key outputs:
- The pocketbook “What Has Changed in Indonesia’s Criminal Justice System? A Quick Guide to the 2023 Criminal Code and the 2025 Code of Criminal Procedure,” which provides a concise overview of several key changes introduced by the new Criminal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure. The publication is available at: bit.ly/Ebook-Quick-Guide
- The research titled “Research on Impacts and Costs of Handling Narcotics Crime in Indonesia,” which explains the economic and social impacts borne by inmates, their families, and the government in handling narcotics cases in Indonesia. The research is available at:
