Comparative Field Study on The Governance of Victim Recovery from Criminal Offenses In Australia

From December 16 to 18, 2025, IJRS Researchers Marcelino Latuputty and Gregorius Yoseph Laba, along with representatives from the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), conducted a comparative field study on the governance of victim recovery from criminal offenses in Australia. This study is part of the ongoing process of developing a roadmap for the Victim Trust Fund at LPSK.

The activities began with a meeting with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Sydney on December 16, 2025. This meeting focused on coordination and facilitation by KJRI Sydney and the Indonesian Embassy’s Police Attaché in Canberra regarding the protection and recovery programs for victims managed by LPSK. On December 17, 2025, the LPSK and IJRS teams, facilitated by KJRI Sydney and the Indonesian Embassy’s Police Attaché, held a meeting with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to discuss the handling of protection programs for Indonesian citizens who are victims of crimes in Australia. The next day, on December 18, 2025, the LPSK and IJRS teams met with Victim Assist Queensland to study best practices in victim recovery management in the state of Queensland, Australia. The LPSK and IJRS teams also held a meeting to explore potential collaboration with the Centre for Communication and Social Change at the University of Queensland on December 18, 2025.
