Synopsis:

IJRS, in collaboration with Yayasan PEKKA, has conducted legal empowerment activities in Jangkar Village, Tanah Merah District, Bangkalan Regency, Madura Island. As a guide for the implementation of these legal empowerment activities, IJRS and Yayasan PEKKA have developed this Legal Empowerment Guidebook along with a curriculum, which contains relevant empowerment materials.

Based on the results of a legal needs assessment, three main topics have been identified for discussion in the legal empowerment activities, which are:

  1. Basic citizens’ rights, legal issues, and legal aid
  2. Gender, violence against women including sexual violence and domestic violence (DV);
  3. Child marriage and its connection to sexual and reproductive health.

The publication of this Legal Empowerment Guidebook is intended to serve as a guide and/or reference material for future legal empowerment activities, providing a better understanding of the legal issues relevant to the community and strengthening legal awareness within these communities.
