On December 4, 2024, in Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, the Indonesia Judicial Research Society (IJRS) in collaboration with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta and with support from the Open Society Foundation (OSF) organized a public seminar titled “The Urgency of Establishing Governance for Victim Assistance Funds and the Implementation of Restitution for the Recovery of Sexual Violence Crime Victims.”
This event aimed to gather input regarding the establishment of the Victim Assistance Fund and its governance, as well as to understand the implementation of restitution to restore the rights of victims of sexual violence crimes through coordination and synergy among law enforcement agencies in the region in collaboration with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK).
The public seminar was opened by the Vice Chair of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) and the Dean of Faculty of Law, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, featuring several speakers, including representatives from the Special Region of Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, academics from Faculty of Law, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, and academics from STIH Adhyaksa. Seminar participants included various stakeholders such as the Police in Special Region of Yogyakarta, District Prosecutors’ Offices in Special Region of Yogyakarta, District Courts in Special Region of Yogyakarta, Faculty of Law Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta students, legal aid organizations and service provider forums in Special Region of Yogyakarta, faculty members from law schools in Special Region of Yogyakarta, and civil society organizations.
