Research Dissemination “Impact and Cost Analysis in Drug Crimes: The High Price Behind Handling Narcotics Crimes”

On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in order to follow up on research findings related to the impact and costs of drug crimes, the Indonesia Judicial Research Society (IJRS), in collaboration with the Center for Detention Studies (CDS), the Indonesian Legal Aid Institute (LBHM), and the Institute for Criminal Justice Reform (ICJR), with support from the Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Justice 2 (AIPJ2), organized a research dissemination event titled “Impact and Cost Analysis in Drug Crimes: The High Price Behind Handling Narcotics Crimes.”

The research dissemination, held at Artotel Gelora Senayan Jakarta and also conducted online, aimed to present the key findings of the research to the public and relevant policymakers, raising awareness of the complex costs involved in handling drug-related cases and the impacts experienced both at the individual and systemic levels.

Additionally, this event was expected to encourage evidence-based policy-making and provide recommendations for narcotics policy reform, including aspects of prevention, law enforcement, and rehabilitation, as part of a constructive evaluation of the criminal justice system in handling narcotics crimes. It also aimed to facilitate discussions and cross-sector collaborative forums to identify better solutions for handling narcotics cases.
