Capacity Building Training for Advocates on Law Number 12 Year 2022 on Sexual Violence Crimes

From August 28-30, 2024, at the Aston Makassar Hotel & Convention Center, the Indonesia Judicial Research Society (IJRS), with the support of The Asia Foundation (TAF) and The United States Department of States – Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), successfully organized a training event titled “Capacity Building Training for Advocates on Law Number 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence Crimes.”

The aim of this training was to produce advocates who not only understand the substance of the Law on Sexual Violence Crimes but also possess the necessary competencies to become Trainers who can further train other advocates, legal assistants, and other relevant parties on the Substance of the Law on Sexual Violence Crimes. Additionally, the training sought to enhance the capacity and professionalism of advocates, and provide ongoing legal education and support.

The training was attended by approximately 48 advocates representing The Asia Foundation’s program partners in Papua and 5 advocate organizations, including:

  • Kongres Advokat Indonesia (KAI)
  • Asosiasi Advokat Indonesia (AAI)
  • PERADI Rumah Bersama Advokat (PERADI RBA),
  • PERADI Suara Advokat Indonesia (PERADI SAI), dan
  • DPN PERADI.

 

Participants came from Makassar, Bali, and Papua.
