Ratna Juwita, S.H., LL.M., M.H., Ph.D.

Ratna Juwita has served as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta since 2015. She successfully defended her PhD dissertation, entitled Conceptualising Corruption as a Violation of Human Rights in Indonesia, on 12 July 2023. She is currently a Visiting Research Fellow in the Department of Transboundary Legal Studies, University of Groningen.

Her research interests include international law, Indonesian law, anti-corruption, and human rights. Ratna is actively involved in several research communities. She joined the Development of International Law in Asia (DILA) in 2018, and in 2020 became part of the International Law Association (ILA) Study Group on the Asian State Practice of Domestic Implementation of International Law, where she focuses on economic, social, and cultural rights. She is also affiliated with the Groningen Centre for Health Law (GCHL), the Aletta Jacobs Junior Research Network, and the Development, Security, and Justice research group under the Rudolf Agricola School for Sustainable Development.

Ratna has presented her work with the Interdisciplinary Corruption Research Network (ICRN) since 2021 and is a member of the Netherlands Network of Human Rights Research (NNHRR) and the Royal Netherlands Society of International Law (KNVIR). Since 2023, she has been recognized as an expert by Transparency International and included in its Expert Network. She is also a member of the UNCAC Coalition Working Group on anti-corruption and human rights, and in May 2024, she was appointed to the ILA Committee on Business and Human Rights.
From 2013 to 2017, Ratna was a copy editor for the Groningen Journal of International Law. She has reviewed manuscripts for various journals, including Organization Studies, Journal of Human Rights Practice, Crime, Law and Social Change, Journal of World Investment & Trade, and Asia Pacific Journal on Human Rights and the Law. In Indonesia, she was Chair of the Law and Society Department (2018-2019).
