[Jakarta, November 22 – 23]
In commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (16 HAKTP), the mini festival SHElebrate X KataHukum.id was successfully held over two days at Heart Space 2.0. This event became an important moment to raise public awareness, particularly among millennials and Gen Z, about Women’s Rights in Conflict with the Law. It also marked the launch of KataHukum.id (https://katahukum.id/), an innovative platform designed to improve access to legal information that is easy for the public to understand.
As part of the 16 HAKTP observance, SHElebrate X KataHukum.id aimed to create a space for reflection, education, and collaboration to support efforts to eliminate violence against women. The central theme “Women’s Rights in Conflict with the Law” aligns with the global commitment to ensure protection and access to justice for women who are victims of violence.
SHElebrate X KataHukum.id also served as the launch event for KataHukum.id, a digital platform providing accessible legal information. During its two-day launch, KataHukum.id recorded over 350 searches. This initiative encourages the public to become more familiar with legal information, helping individuals understand their rights and take appropriate action when facing legal issues, particularly women.
SHElebrate X KataHukum.id was attended by over 200 participants who actively engaged in various discussion sessions, workshops, experimental exhibitions, fun activities, and side events.
SHElebrate featured an art exhibition that combined artwork with advocacy messages. These art pieces not only provided deep reflections but also served as a powerful advocacy tool to voice women’s rights and encourage real action. The exhibition showcased paintings, sketches, photography, and digital illustrations in collaboration with 10 artists, focusing on themes such as violence against women, inequality, and women’s struggles for access to justice. Additionally, there were performance art shows, music performances, and poetry readings.
SHElebrate X KataHukum.id also brought together various speakers to share perspectives on the protection and handling of women experiencing violence, including artist Hannah Al Rashid, writer Kalis Mardiasih, prosecutor Cindi Indira, and many more. The event collaborated with over 20 diverse organizations, all campaigning for and celebrating women’s rights.
This event reinforced the spirit of 16 HAKTP by emphasizing the importance of collaboration among various parties to create a more just, equal, and violence-free society for women. The launch of KataHukum.id marks a strategic step to support women in better understanding and utilizing their legal rights.
SHElebrate and KataHukum.id represent the beginning of a long journey to empower women and the general public to understand and apply the law in daily life. We invite all parties to continue supporting this initiative for the creation of an inclusive and just society.
