Formal Request for Response from the Government and the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Regarding the Coalition’s Inputs on Articles in the Draft Criminal Procedure Code (RKUHAP)

The draft revision of the Criminal Procedure Code (RKUHAP) opens up greater opportunities for abuse of power by law enforcement authorities. However, public input submitted to the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Government regarding the RKUHAP has consistently been disregarded.

On October 2, 2025, the Civil Society Coalition for the Reform of the Criminal Procedure Code submitted an official letter requesting a formal response from the DPR RI and the Government. This step was not merely an effort to obtain an answer, but also to affirm that meaningful participation in the legislative process must not be limited to the right to be heard — it must also encompass the right to be considered and the right to receive a response.

Salisa, (IJRS researcher), representing IJRS as part of the coalition, was present to personally deliver the letter to the DPR RI.

We urge the Government and the DPR to fulfill not only the public’s right to express their views, but also their right to have those views considered and to receive an explanation or response to the input they provide.
